Spain became the FIFA World Cup Football Champion 2010 first time in the history after defeating Netherland by 1 – 0 in the final. The match was played in the Soccer City Stadium of Johannesburg on 12th July 2010. Before this, these two teams never won any world cup. Netherland had played the finals of 1974 and 1978 world cups before but couldn’t win and remained unlucky this time too. But Spain got the place in final and also became champion first time.
When the match started then the players of both teams attacked many times on the goal sides of each other and wasted several confirmed goal chances. Also, the players were looking so ruthless and angry and it was feeling that now players would start to fight with each other. Sometimes any Dutch player pulled down the Spanish and sometimes Spanish did the same. That’s why yellow card was shown 8 times to the Dutch team and 5 times to the Spanish which is a record. Also, the match referee Howard Webb showed red card to the Dutch defender John Heitinga with a second caution in the 109th minute of the match.
Both teams strived hardly to score the goal but remained unsuccessful. At last, the time was up and extra 30 minutes were given to the match. The match was becoming so exciting after spending every moment. At the 116th minute of the match, Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta scored the maiden and winning goal of the match after beautiful pass of Fabregas. That was the outside hit but referee didn’t see it. Dutch players protested on this situation to the referee but he had confirmed the goal. This triumph of Spain remained till the end of the match.
